I myself used to go to the gym every week and load 60kg on the bench, smash out 3 sets of 10 and then move to incline, pick up the 22.5kg dumbbells and knock out another 3 sets of 10 reps. I did this same thing for around a year and got to the point where I was getting fed up. I was in the gym as much as anybody else but I never seemed to be getting stronger or bigger.
I've never been the biggest person, I've always had quite a skinny frame and its a serious struggle for me to add muscle. My newbie gains soon stopped and there I was in the situation described above.
